Podcast and spoken audio

Two or more voices, a calm table setup and an engineer watching levels while you focus on the conversation — then edits and exports in common podcast formats.

Two podcast hosts with microphones at a table in treated room

Podcast and spoken audio at Mushrumpmirami is for Amsterdam creators who outgrew a USB mic in a living room but do not need a full broadcast plant. We rig broadcast arms, pop filters and optional headphones; Meike de Vries runs many sessions alongside her mastering work.

Whether you produce an interview series, internal knowledge show or narrative non-fiction, you can book hourly recording (€82), a four-hour block with basic edit (€295), or post at €65 per hour. See services for the full menu.

Process

  1. 01

    Brief

You outline voices, target length and deliverables (WAV, MP3, video sync). We send a checklist through contact.

  2. 02

    Rig

Table or stand setup, one mic per person, optional headphones, level and noise check before chapter one.

  3. 03

    Record

Conversation with marker moments for editing; pauses stay until post unless you prefer live-through.

  4. 04

    Edit & deliver

Basic edit in the session package or deeper work at €65; loudness toward -16 LUFS stereo when requested.

Projects we see often

Guest interviews, co-hosted shows, internal comms for teams in Amsterdam-Oost, audiobook sample chapters, education series and live talks for later broadcast. We are not set up for large dubbing casts — the live room caps around 6 musicians for music sessions with different logistics.

You usually bring your own video crew; we deliver sync-ready audio. Music intros can go through mixing separately.

Room and workflow

We use the treated podcast corner with table mics — not a glassy meeting room. 8 headphone sends let guests monitor themselves. Multitrack recording keeps each voice editable when people overlap.

The control room stays quiet: cues through the glass or a quick break so hosts are not distracted by fader moves.

Host prep

Send question lists, name pronunciations and target segment length at least 1 day ahead. Guests get short notes on jewelry noise, phones on silent and hydration.

Long scripts do not need to be memorised — paper rustle is audible; tablet or stand-mounted print works better. Broader tips live in guides and FAQ.

What basic edit covers

€295 covers four hours plus basic edit: trim dead air, tame obvious plosives, one level pass, WAV and MP3 export. It is not full sound design, music production or aggressive filler-word removal minute by minute.

Deeper narrative cuts, jingle integration or multilingual versions are quoted at €65 per hour upfront. 2 feedback rounds on edits as stated in your quote.

Delivery, privacy and rights

Files via secure link; we keep them 6 months unless you buy extended storage by agreement. Personal data in conversations is covered by our privacy policy; business clients may request a data processing agreement.

You keep content rights; we do not use your audio in marketing without written OK. See disclaimer for liability limits.

Scheduling and location

Monday to Friday 10:00–22:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00. Closed Sunday. By appointment only. By appointment via contact or 020 737 1846. The studio is on Weesperzijde in Amsterdam East. From Amsterdam Amstel station it is about an 8-minute walk along the Amstel. Tram 12 stops nearby; metro lines 51, 53 and 54 serve Amstel. On-street parking is limited; bike racks are right outside the entrance. Series blocks keep tone consistent week to week.

Also need vocals or a band session? Book separate days — different setups and focus.

Out of scope

Transcription, translation, podcast hosting, cover art, large live audiences without notice, and off-site recording away from Weesperzijde 96. Music clearance for intros is on you or your rights agent.

Pure music releases fit mixing or mastering better than podcast pricing.

Loudness, metadata and platforms

Apps normalise playback differently, so we deliver a stereo WAV master plus an MP3 with empty ID3 fields you can fill (title, show, episode). On request we aim loudness at common podcast targets so your episode does not sit much quieter than a major show in the same feed.

Apple Podcasts, Spotify for Podcasters and other hosts ask for cover sizes or RSS fields outside our audio remit — but the files we hand over are ready to upload. Unsure about bit rate or mono versus stereo for speech? Ask via contact; interviews usually stay clearer in stereo with two voices.

FAQ

How many guests at once?

Two to three at the table is ideal; four can work with extra mics by arrangement. Beyond that we rethink the layout.

Can we bring video?

Yes if your crew works quietly and lights do not buzz. Audio leads; we can drop sync markers.

Who edits?

Basic edit sits in €295; longer edits are scheduled with Meike or a colleague at €65 per hour.

Can I leave with raw files?

Yes — multitrack WAV on request; mention it when booking so drives are ready.

Is food provided?

Coffee and water are here; lunch is yours to grab around Weesperzijde.
