Mastering

Meike de Vries turns your mixed tracks into release-ready files: controlled loudness, sequencing and exports matched to how you plan to distribute.

Close-up of engineer adjusting mastering hardware

Mastering is the last listening pass before a single, EP or album reaches listeners. In our suite on Weesperzijde 96 we work from your stereo mix (or an approved stem bounce) and adjust only what is needed for balance, width and consistent dynamics across songs. The aim is translation: the track should stay recognisable on a phone, in a car, on headphones and on a club system.

You do not have to attend in person; many jobs run via upload and e-mail feedback. If you want to listen together, we schedule a session within Mon–Fri 10–22, Sat 11–18. Mastering follows sessions from our live room or mixes done elsewhere — as long as you can confirm rights to the material.

Process

  1. 01

    Delivery

Send WAV or AIFF without a mix-bus limiter, plus notes on genre, references and target platform. Use contact or [email protected].

  2. 02

    Analysis

We measure loudness, tonal balance and phase. On albums we also set gaps, order and relative levels between tracks.

  3. 03

    Master pass

Meike applies EQ, dynamics and limiting, then exports test masters. You receive listening files within the agreed turnaround.

  4. 04

    Revisions and files

Up to 2 revision rounds are included. We then deliver final assets; further rounds are billed at €35.

What makes mastering here distinct

The suite is built for critical listening, not tracking. 2 reference monitor pairs and analogue outboard make small moves audible without flattening your mix character. Pace follows the project: an urgent single jumps the queue when the calendar allows; a twelve-track album gets a dedicated sequencing block.

Mushrumpmirami has worked in Amsterdam East since 2019; we still treat every master on its own terms — no preset chain that forces the same colour on every genre.

Who it is for

Independent artists shipping to streaming, labels finishing an EP, podcast producers aligning a season to one loudness profile, and bands that want a coherent album image after mixing. External mix engineers also send work when clients want a second set of ears in Amsterdam.

Minimum age for contracts and invoicing is 16. Minors need written consent from a parent or guardian.

Delivery specifications

Supply stereo mixes as 24-bit WAV at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz — one rate per project. Leave headroom (peaks below -1 dBFS) and avoid mix-bus limiting unless that is an intentional part of your sound you want preserved. Include BPM, key and any ISRC preferences in the upload notes.

Vinyl masters need side lengths and cutting notes. Broadcast or advertising needs a loudness standard (for example EBU R128); name the destination so we set the right meter. Rights and metadata are covered in mastering rights and delivery.

Turnaround

A single track up to about five minutes usually returns within three to five business days after complete delivery. Albums up to twelve tracks are scheduled case by case; allow roughly one to two weeks when sequencing and revisions overlap. Rush slots may be available for a surcharge when the diary allows — call 020 737 1846.

We answer questions within 1 business day. Files arrive by download link; we do not ship physical media by default.

Rates and VAT

Single track (typically up to five minutes mixed length): €78 incl. 21% VAT. Full album up to twelve tracks: €420 incl. VAT — cheaper than twelve separate masters when sequencing and uniform loudness are done together.

Files you receive

Standard delivery includes:

  • 16-bit WAV 44.1 kHz for most aggregators
  • 24-bit WAV on request for archive or vinyl
  • Optional AAC preview for a quick phone check
  • DDP for CD plants when ordered as an add-on

Filenames follow your track list; we do not treat streaming links as the only master source — you get downloadable files. We keep project assets for 6 months.

Revisions and limits

Revisions cover loudness, balance, sibilance, low-mid build or sequencing — not remixing individual instruments. When the issue lives in the mix, we point you back to mixing or your mixer. Included rounds: 2; after that €35 per round with clear written notes.

Stem-only masters or Atmos are outside this base package. Ask if you need immersive formats; we refer out when appropriate.

Links to tracking and mixing

Masters from material tracked in our band session and mixed by Lars van der Berg benefit from shared session notes: tempo, tunings and known problem frequencies. That shortens feedback loops. External mixes get the same care; include mix notes when you upload.

For spoken-word loudness see podcast recording. General studio background lives on about us and guides.

FAQ

Do I need to attend the mastering session?

No — most work is remote. Attended sessions are available by appointment within Monday to Friday 10:00–22:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00. Closed Sunday. By appointment only.; mention your preference in contact.

Can I upload a test master to streaming?

Keep test masters private until you approve finals. After delivery you distribute according to your rights; see our guide on rights.

What if my mix is heavily limited?

We assess whether recovery is realistic. Sometimes that means a remix; sometimes mild correction is enough. You get honest feedback before we bill extra work.

Do you supply vinyl-cutting files?

We can deliver vinyl-optimised masters when you provide side lengths and cutting notes. Lacquer cutting stays with your chosen plant; we align to their specs.

How do I start a job?

Send your mix and notes via contact or [email protected]. After confirmation and deposit (25% for new clients) we queue the file.
